Greetings all. I’ve jumped across from Esk8 news because I’ve still got a few minutes to spare in the day after the hours read over there haha
I’ve done a few DIYs but still learning. I’ve had a crack at custom enclosures (usable but not great looking), skinning decks and have battery building next on list of skills to learn. Battery maybe later in the year for a little hub build.
It appears there are several familiar user names over here too
Cheers. Was good reading through your thread on the enclosure and deck u did for me. Brought back memories of that excitement wait period and reminded me how much work went into it again!!!
I’ve glassed the bottom of the other LY deck and will do top once I get inserts in after enclosure made. Will probably just grip tape top unless I come across a print i like.
Looks like I’ve found the super-duper esk8 forum where all the cool shit happens…
I’m just a regular Michael…… I used to skate heaps with my neighbor as a kid, we had a half bowl across the road from where I used to live and we spend a full two summers fucking around there until the local council ripped it out .
Fast forward a few centuries later COVID hits, my job is dead, local laws have us in and out of lockdowns for months on end, can’t leave my house, can’t ride my dirt bikes and I needed something to fill the gap of adrenalin my life was missing and also needed something to do with all this newfound time at home I have.
I’m two builds down and thinking about my third…… Flexy Deck, Small Carver……
For me, the best part about DIY is the fabrication, sanding, spraying, making something from nothing. This is the shit the keeps me going and keeps me sane.
Anyhow, I’m going to go back to lurking. Think I might have a go at some glass frit as my next endeavor……
Just a 39 year old Norwegian who just found pure joy in esk8.
Have 2 kids. Boy (minime) 12 and girl 17. Engaged to a 10 year younger beauty. I’m a carpenter. Went from bulding houses garages and cabins to furniture. Built my workshop on the cabin property, and now i go to work when i want to. Wich is quite often in the summertime.
Very beautiful build, how do you like the abec 11 107mms with the M1 street drives? I have a very similar setup with the same wheels.
Can I please see that forged carbon enclosure too?
I like them. Though not as comfy as they looked. If i could i would go for pneumatics for the rougher asphalt areas we have here. But not bad. But not awesome either. Then again, i have no reference to other wheels.
Thanks! I’m very happy with it. Had no problems so far. Couple screws came out a little because of vibration. Of the 3 inside ones, but loctightened them and no more loosey for 100 kilometers. Think Kevin forgot the blue goo on them.
