I finally caught up on you and @rosco workshops. Exciting shit! Thanks for taking all of us along for the ride.
Really making what was voodoo shit a bit more accessible.
That mousse while degassing is satisfying, I miss seeing that shit.

So much this.
My last ‘test’ was my proto cf infusion deck which was a bit of a gamble at about $200 of fabric and resin. Haha. Plus mould materials plus about million hours of sanding and routing time :joy:. Forget the beer costs…

I’m loving this community and learning how to make cool shit. You dudes all rock :facepunch:

Lol yeah many monies. This mold is gonna have $200 worth of silicone in it, plus all the other shit

Are you also making a Wolverine glove!!??

:rofl::rofl: just some aluminium bar that i set into the ribs to stiffen them up

I tried thickening up.some resin last night to produce a bevel away from the compartments to make my fibreglass jacket easier to make.

I got it as thick as I was comfortable with, but it still slumped when loaded in there, so I improvised.

Discovered a major flaw in my plan though last night talking to Russ. My plan was to stick my vacuum bag down to the silicone surface… but tacky tape absolutely does not stick to silicone

Modifications to the plan will ensue.

 basically nothing sticks to silicone except more silicone. Which is funny cause silicone sticks to everything damn near

Keen to discover the plan.
It’s stuck to the fibreglass jacket?

Silicone offset mould for the top and don’t use a bag…?

I absolutely need a bag, i wanna infuse these parts. I trimmed the outer silicone out of the mold, so that the fibreglass jacket will have a flat flange on the outside for me to seal the bag to.

Bevel splooged in on opposite side this morning, will be able to get one of the ends done tonight as well.

Started work on a 12s4p for a switchblade, and installed LP20 to that DS 44 that i’ve had for too long.

Out of curiosity, how much does bulk silicone like that cost?

All the bevels are done and i just laid some fibreglass mesh and poured on a kg of silicone.

The fucking mesh just floats. Gonna have to sit with it as it kicks and just poke the mesh in so it stays down.

One final coat of silicone tomorrow and this expensive exercise moves onto the next step.

If i had my time again, i’d put the mesh on before the bevels. Or use a different mesh.

Or pay some other cunt to do this shit. Fuck me.

Lol. To bad we weren’t closer.
I’ll send you some links to better fabric if you want…If you ever do this again. :joy:

Vac bag the mesh down with the wet silicon on it?

I managed to get most of it under pretty well. Just gotta hope i have enough silicone left for a light skim coat over the hole lot now.

I don’t think i do  but i’ll do my best to spread what i’ve got over it tonight and then i’ll be ready to make the jacket!

If you run out you can use silicone caulking.
