I’m having the same issue, Fess.
I got through. I connected to the NRF tool and read device then disconnected. Went through on FreeSK8 mobile app next try.
should we go to telegram? ( invite me to the beta someone? )
feel like i’m polluting this thread.
yes. very close.
it’s iphone 7. so… I’m sure there are other proceses. I’m sure i have littel control over them. but I’ll quit every other app
hmm, i did “forget this device” in ios bluetooth menu, and now i’m in a weirder state.
when I connect with FreeSK8 app it immediately says “device disconnected” then plays a much longer song than keyboard cat.
hmm. I actually tried that earlier. did you see freesk8-dru or the freesk8-robogotchi to connect to in nrf tool?
Are you on our large chat? Was looking for your info to add you to beta.
I’m not. dm’ing yoo.
“Mii Channel’s theme” – bluetooth disconnected.
that was paired on robo side, unpaired on phone side.
clearing BLE devices from robo side. allowed me to re-pair.
back to original problem. FreeSK8 app says establishing connection after connecting, and warning about firmware. robo says BLE OK.
Problem solved. update unity fw to fw5.1 first.
I had intended to do that but was just checking connectivity.
which got stuck on this screen:
which actually means… “connected but… bruh, I’m trying to talk to this unity and i can’t understand the way he serializes… so Imma just sit here.” note the "ESC hardware: loading … " and the robo saying “BLE OK” and making the connecty cat song.
running fw5.1 on the unity this does not happen.
sorry for the distraction.
@skate420 we might want to make note of this; if encountering unsupported firmware such as old unity fw
Thanks for the feedback @fessyfoo!
I can improve on this so you won’t be forced to disconnect if the ESC is not responding or incompatible. Thank you!
Just watched the catch up and envisioning a online esk8 speedrun community. I seriously love love love my Robogotchi the only downside I have is it makes it hard to go for a stealth skate. My 7 year old hears that startup tone and grabs her scooter and I love skating with her but I have to keep under 20km.
My next robogotchi order will be for her 80% done esk8 “Glitter Pony”
Same. I get shit every time I plug the loop key in. Will have to swap out her unity metr at some point.
1.) whoa… f’n cool.
2.) doesn’t using all the pins mean you’re taking up two uarts? as in the regular ble module only plugs into half the pins, and I’ve heard tell the other half are another uart… but idk for definite.
Yep. Working on this.
I’ve had a few people ask me for quick take on what the Robogotchi is, so I think this does it:
The Robogotchi works a lot like a Fitbit for your skateboard/esk8.
One quirk I have noticed with ver 11 my notification of communicating with ECS never goes away. I am running it through usplit tried latest usplit fw update.
If I cancel the data still seems to be live from the ESC.
Verrrrry interesting. Was the uSplit just installed? Was the uSplit installed before version 0.11.0 and working as expected?
I’m curious if the uSplit has ever worked for the Robogotchi regardless of the FreeSK8 version.
I’ve sent @Movation a new uSplit FW version to test. If the Robogotchi needs a response from a CAN Ping request before it closes the ESC connection dialog, then it would explain the uSplit causing this issue.
I just updated the uSplit FW to fix the dropping of CAN Ping responses and that is the FW I provided Movation. This bug was found since it was causing an issue with the latest Metr FW.
