Lol i said before the weekend is over, that includes tomorrow as well
Crikey!
Forgot to update this. It kinda worked. I didn’t have a proper seal, so I didn’t get a proper outcome.
I have plans for next time to make it quicker, easier, better.
Will see how i go.
Fuck all time for esk8 stuff this week…
Squeezed in an hour last night to work on this mold for making a urethane gasket for the kaly enclosure.
Still gotta seal it all with resin, but pretty happy with how it’s looking.
Soft or hard urethane…? Color me intrigued.
It’s reasonably soft, from memory about 60A (will clarify this when back in the shop). I’ve used it for this exact purpose before and it worked perfectly.
I also use the same urethane as the ‘shock block’ to support top mounted enclosures.
Awesome.
Has anyone ever made a multi hardness flexi enclosure? If say the ground facing bottom was laminated with glass or something then the sides and flexible areas left soft. It would flex and fit and be a great gasket, but giving better protection from rocks and scrapes.
Its been on my to-do list for over a year
Round 2 on the flux SS. Tried again without gelcoat, as I wanna see what the finish is like if it holds vacuum during cure.
Its holding vacuum, but its fucking cold here today so cure is gonna be sloooooowwww.
Fingers crossed.
You can make a hotbox out of a cardboard box that’s bigger than your mold. Put that over it and stick a hair dryer on low but warm. That will kick it off. I live in Canada ask me how it know about slow setting products…
@rosco came up with the genius idea of an electric blanket. You reckon that’ll work?
The layup failed. My suspicion is that it failed because the glass happened to get rained on a bit while i was having a shit the resin in the pot had cured but the resin in the part hadn’t even gelled
3rd time’s a charm they reckon.
Yup that’s another way. I honestly do the box at a ton of different shops, as most have those have those parts and not a blanket. Lol.
I have neither and the blanket seems easier to wrangle.
Onwards and upwards.
FTFY
Do you know why the emu and the kangaroo are the animals on the australian coat of arms?
because neither can move backwards easily, so they represent a country moving foward
You’ve just earned a special place in my sock drawer.
U slick.
